Shepherdstown, WV – In response to the devastating floods that have impacted our region, a collaborative effort is underway to provide much-needed relief to families affected by the recent flooding in Ohio and Marion counties.
The Shepherdstown Street Fest, Shepherdstown Shares, Shepherdstown Community Club, Community Markets Inc., and Jefferson Security Bank are coming together to sponsor a Flood Relief Supply Drive from June 27th through June 29th, 2025.
This vital initiative will take place at three convenient locations throughout Shepherdstown, where community members can drop off supplies to support those in need:
Items Needed: Heavy duty cleaning supplies (shovels, crow bars), personal protection gear (muck boots, work and disposable gloves, duct tape), bleach, dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, spray bottles, sponges, rags, hoses, squeegees, contractor bags, storage bins, buckets, trash cans, scrub brushes, brooms, mops, tarps, and more. A complete list is available on the Shepherdstown Streetfest Facebook page.
We are calling on all residents, businesses, and organizations to contribute to this important cause. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by the floods.
"Not to poo-poo our own project here but donating money to organizations on the ground is often the most effective way to support disasters like these," said John Meeker, drive organizer and Shepherdstown Streetfest President. "Before buying new gear, maybe consider donating the funds directly to groups like Ohio Valley Mutual Aid or the West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster."
"Community Markets Inc. is honored to partner with Shepherdstown Shares, JSB, The Community Club and other local organizations to come to the aid of our affected West Virginians in Ohio and Marion counties during this critical time of rebuilding," stated Mark Peiffer, Operations Manager for Community Markets Inc.
Join us in making a positive impact in the lives of our neighbors. Together, we can help rebuild and restore hope in our community.
